New Coldplay Album “Music of the Spheres”

On October 15, 2021, the English band “Coldplay” released their new album, “Music of the Spheres.” This space-rock futuristic albums which takes place in the fictional solar system of “The Spheres” features Texas-born singer Selena Gomez and K-pop group BTS.

The album begins with an instrumental song called “🪐,” also known as the title track, “Music of the Spheres.” The first vocal track, “Higher Power” features a seamless transition between “Music of the Spheres” and “Higher Power”, something which Coldplay is famous for. “Higher Power” is an upbeat pop song, also the lead single.

The album ends with the song “Coloratura,” the longest song Coldplay ever released, coming in at 10 minutes and 17 seconds. The song is a ballad, similar to “Bohemian Rhapsody” by English band “Queen.” Containing allusions to Galileo, Neptune, Pioneer (first program to have a satellite escape the solar system), and other space-related topics, the song starts off slowly with a soft piano riff as it transitions to an epic guitar solo just as how Coldplay finishers generally end with an explosion.
